Vegetation condition mapping

Mapping validation project

The Native Vegetation Mapping Continuous Validation project was carried out for the NSW Department of Infrastructure, Planning & Natural Resources.

The project assisted the Native Vegetation Mapping Program that advised in the development of the vegetation reforms included in the NSW Native Vegetation Act 2003. This project provided vegetation maps to regional vegetation committees in priority areas.

CSIRO's validation project helped ensure that the end-product maps accurately reflected the native vegetation communities at a particular scale, providing continuous feedback and verification of the product's integrity.
